Michael Ärfström will develop the Härjedal fishery

Michael Ärfström, chairman of Hedeviken's FVOF, has been appointed project manager for Sportfiskarna's investment in the Härjedal fishery in the FishValueZ project, a welcome effort financed by EU funds on 2,4 million kroner and will last for three years. In competition with several competent applicants, Michael received the assignment to develop fishing in Härjedalen.
- I also hope to be able to present proposals for measures fairly soon that can show the direction the project is taking and what opportunities exist, says Michael Ärfström according to a press release from Sportfiskarna.

Michael has strong roots in sport fishing and founded his career at the Sportfiskegymnasiet in Älvdalen, and has since then worked in various parts of the tourism industry, among other things with the Fishing Pass in Funäsfjällen. In recent years, he has worked in his own company in the hospitality industry, including guided tours on Sonfjället, with Hedeviken as a starting point. Last summer, he started Sportfiskarna's 'Summer holiday fishing', an appreciated opportunity for school children to fish in several places in Härjedalen.
- The basis of each fisheries conservation area should be to work for natural fish stocks in healthy waters. When it comes to water conservation, one should have a larger perspective and look at water systems rather than individual fisheries conservation areas, says Michael Ärfström according to the press release.

The investment in the Härjedal fishery as a natural resource and system that facilitates and streamlines the work of the fishery conservation associations is very welcome, says Helge Jonsson, Chair in long FVOF. It means a lot that there will be a locally anchored project manager who has solid knowledge of the Härjedalen and fishing with a basic view that is based on our natural values. We have great confidence in Michael Ärfström and look forward to participating in the project, says Helge Jonsson.
– From Långåfisket's side, we have drawn up proposals in that direction for ten years, where we see many advantages with various forms of cooperation and collaborations. As a member of Sportfiskarna, Långå FVOF welcomes the initiative.. Unfortunately, the project has been given an incomprehensible and unprofessional name that creates confusion. It is supposed to be about the fishing in Härjedalen, 'Härjedal fishing', says Helge Jonsson.
