The interest in fishing and hunting is well represented in the political governance of Härjedalen municipality. We can thank Sune Halvarsson in Hedeviken for that, who dedicated his political life to social democracy with a particular focus on sport fishing. Decades of hard work and dedication, among other things for Hedeviken's fisheries conservation area, was the starting point for his responsibility, knowledge and commitments. Including a good collaboration on various issues and challenges with neighboring fisheries conservation areas.
His imprint can be seen particularly clearly in the municipality's commitment to sport fishing. It may even be connected with the fact that the landscape of Härjedalen has overtaken ancient Jämtland. Härjedalen attracts the most. The location of the landscape, well-managed fishing conservation areas and, above all, the variety in fishing. Seen as a whole in Sweden, Härjedalen is at the forefront of sport fishing, Sune Halvarsson used to claim as a social democratic politician in tourism and leisure matters and father of the 'Fiskeligan', the competition for the county's record fish, which he managed with pride for over thirty years. In addition, over forty years as prime mover and expert in the municipality's Fishing Group.
Sune Halvarsson's commitment became support for the municipal management's focus on sport fishing as an important part, not least in the municipal business policy with job opportunities that provide year-round effects in the hospitality industry. After the pandemic with an overall picture and prioritized investments in the fishery conservation associations, marketing and the project 'Härjedalsfisket'.
Caring for the fish and the fisherman was one of Sune's personal priorities and joys. Likewise, concern for the home village and the Härjedalen landscape.
