Annual result 2023: MANY FISHING TOURS AND STABLE ECONOMY

Långå Fishing Area Association/Långåfisket has submitted its report and annual report for 2023. The fishing had a variable start but developed to become fairly normal during most of the summer season. The number of fishermen amounted to just over 1 200 with an average of six fishing trips during the year, which means approx 7 500 fishing opportunities.
The turnover was 840 000 crowns against 1 059 000 the year before. The decline is explained by the fact that two large projects were completed in Långåljusnan's stream sections, which were renovated and upgraded. The sale of fishing licenses amounted to 386 000 kroner, which is roughly the same as the year before and on par with the budget. The association's finances are stable despite last year's deficit of 84 000 SEK.
The Fisheries Association's internal training activities led to four people being certified with authorization to conduct electrofishing. It is a method used to investigate the presence and condition of the wild fish. Control fishing in some ponds shows too large populations with a risk of 'thousand brothers' as the nutrient supply is not on par with the number of fish. The problem is remedied by catching fish and moving them to other waters with greater volume and nutrient availability.
The groundwater project was carried out according to plan and its board decided to invest in a "dam within the dam" in order to thereby retain water in an area that is not drained during winter power production. Then 'a lake within the lake' is formed. The project has been named ECOSJÖN™
At the project board's seminar in Långå in September, the measure was decided upon, which is part of the development work. The Grundsjö project is an investment in biological diversity with an emphasis on saving the unique Grundsjörödingen. Project owner is Fortum Sverige AB, County Administrative Board of Jämtland, Härjedalen, Långå fishing association and Särvsjön village community.
The annual meeting is held in Långå den 26 March at 19.00 where owners are invited and other interested parties are welcome.
