Prices for fishing licenses to be reviewed

The Board of Directors of Långå FVOF has assigned both from last year's meeting and from the autumn meeting to review the card price. The prices have been unchanged for seven years and during that time the cost picture has changed in many respects and multi-million dollar investments have taken place in Långåfisket, which increases the content of the fishing offered and then also the value of it.

The basic principles of pricing (can be read on the website) is that everyone should be able to afford to fish in Långå, but the costs of conservation measures, care and service must be covered and, in addition, there must be a retention that gives the association's board of directors the opportunity to keep the agreements entered into, long-term agreements and renewal of investments.

Setting the right prices must be based on what the offer contains, which is a difficult trade-off if you try to compare with other fisheries conservation areas. There are hardly any two identical fisheries conservation areas and for that reason alone it is difficult to make 'market comparisons'.

Another question is: what is the fisherman prepared to pay? There are many visiting fishermen who believe that we set far too low prices considering the fine fishing that Långåfisket offers. The board is now preparing a report for the fisheries meeting (the association's annual meeting) at the end of March. Views from the meeting are incorporated into the final proposal that is presented for the autumn meeting, the body responsible for deciding on next year's fees.
