During Easter week, and even the time before, has come many reports of successful catches and memorable experiences from spring winter fishing. Actually more and with a consistently positive content than in a long time. Of course this applies to the mythical rarity and national celebrity, Grundsjörödingen, but also other fish species such as trout, trout and the perch. Major, fattier and tastier fish! That's what we work for in Långåfisket, and carefully, cautiously, we think it may have a connection with the measures we are taking in the Grundsjö project together with Fortum Sverige AB, County Administrative Board of Jämtland, Härjedalen municipality and Särvsjön's Bysamfällighetsförening. It's fun to get signals that what we're working on, actually matter. We are not going to support it. But feel how you feel those moments when the future is alluring and the ups and downs are passed before the next one comes.
Grundsjön is and will remain our 'property sea' and we are proud of it and protect it. In Långå, at least for the last three hundred years, we have understood and realized the value of preserving and caring for fish as a natural resource worthy of protection, and of devoting ourselves to fishing according to the conditions that nature determines. With you fishing here, we will together ensure that the future contains these values and opportunities. It is a mission we have in common around what we like and want!
Easter is the biggest fishing holiday in our tradition and on the Easter table in Långå the delicacies that are taken from the fresh waters are served. Smoked perch is one of the highlights of the starters. Scrambled eggs with smoked lake, also. Actually tastier than eel, if anyone remembers what it tasted like before the clueless fishing put a stop to it. Lake liver is a delicacy. Carefully remove the yellow-green gallbladder. Freeze for at least four days. Simmer gently in salted water, or butter fryer in a sufficiently hot frying pan. Served with chopped chives on buttered crisp bread. The lacquer room! Freeze for four days, tina, whisk off the membranes in a water bath, they, drain in filter, salta, pepper, serve on buttered toast, white bread, with chopped red onion and a small dollop of crème fraiche and maybe a little sprinkling of dill. Fabulously good! Many throw away the sheets, towards better knowledge. It is permissible to ask to receive it, because you know better. Unlike many waters, the heavy metal levels in the fish here are barely measurable.
Herring are caught in cans with Peter and his gang at ICA in Hede. Shop there instead of wasting fuel transporting goods from shopping centers on the outskirts of big cities. Then you are kinder to the environment. Completely in line with the nature of Långåfisket- and environmental.
Good Friday, then one would be in silence and at home, when i was a child. Even then I had my doubts that neither God nor Jesus had anything against sitting by a sinkhole on Grundsjön and enjoying the sunshine in the mighty cathedral. Now I'm even convinced it's okay. But at the same time, we can take the opportunity to use the silence for reflection and perhaps the occasional pondering about us as people. According to the creation story, we are God's image. It's not bad!
