The so-called wood-fishing is definitely over for this time and now it's 'real'! One or myskväll with a nice fiskebok or vise or conversations with like-minded may well creep into even later, but as I said now we have time and space for our real interest.
Valborg is the day and evening of our longing, our youthful longing no matter what age we are. Spring is a source that is full of hope, future and optimism. At the same time, spring feelings belong to a democratic right where everyone has the right to decide over experiences, feelings and commitments about what one wants should be included in the near future.
Spring makes no difference between people and people, between women or men, barn, adults and the elderly, wealthy or poor. Spring reminds us of the immense wealth that we all have at our disposal. A wealth that has nothing to do with money and that would not be available even if we tried to pay with swish. Spring surrounds us, completely free! Was so good, rejoice and enjoy!
A few years ago I wrote a poem called Vår vår and it really only consists of these two words, which, depending on emphasis, changes form from being a pronoun, nouns or even adverbs. It was possible to put together a whole reasoning about this long-awaited season.
Not, today it hit me, that Spring could be managed with the same motto that governs Långåfisket's fisheries management plan. The watchword is 'preserve', care and use' and with these as umbrella terms for each area of responsibility, it is possible to chisel out all the necessary strategies in harmony with the very intention and meaning of our business, even so that it is consistent with ethical, moral , organic, biological and economic conditions including the emerging challenges of a more and more surprised nature.
We need to preserve spring. I have a hard time seeing what we would replace it with. None of the indelta springs in Lånå: spring winter, spring, spring and late spring alone can take over the whole concept. It is just as well that we preserve spring as it is!
We need to nurture spring. We need to cherish our spring as an asset, for spring is a special resource for all of us with hope and faith in the future and joy and enjoyment both of the sheer greenery, the birdsong and the spring sun that thaws us after winter and the fish wake up and watch. Spring receives the seeds we sow and in a month or so we harvest. It is a wonder, we say. Of course it is!
We need to use the spring. And then we follow nature's patterns! We are making arrangements for the coming summer, at the same time as we enjoy the spring sun and bounce around like other house sparrows, naturally sings the songs from our inherited songbook, we dress in light, light clothes, we review and supplement our equipment and create content for our plans and in front of us is everything we have to catch up on, everything we have to be involved in and right now everything fits in our imagination about fishing. Spring opens the gates that closed our longing. Now it will be gone! For real!
