Rejuvenation close to nature replaces fish farming

The boards of Långå FVOF and the Grundsjö project, respectively, have decided to change the strategy of cultivating Grundsjöröding for annual support release.. Instead, rum is taken and fertilized rum is released in hatching boxes at five locations in Grundsjömagasinet, including at the outlets of Anån and Mittån. The method has been developed in recent years and is part of what is known as organic aquaculture.

In the Ground Sea Agreement, the main points are targeted reduction fishing for whitefish and the supported release of four thousand two-year-old fry. The project owners Fortum Sverige AB, Härjedalen, Långå fisheries conservation association, The county board and Särvsjön's village association agree on the change in the agreement. One of the reasons for the change is uncertainty regarding access to cultivation capacity at a reasonable distance. The agreement is otherwise unchanged with a ten-year perspective for the measures with the assignment to Långå fishing conservation association to manage the contract itself.
– This is a change we welcome, says Per-Ola Persson, who is responsible for quality in Långå FVOF. This is in line with the overall strategy Långåfisket works to only keep original stocks of fish species in the area and to prioritize natural reproduction.
With rum collection and release of fertilized rum, we have a method that is as close to nature as you can get. The trout stock in Grundsjön receives 'help for self-help' in a way that is ethically appealing and in line with our basic values that the fishermen in the area should have conditions and quality that are as close as possible to the original, he says.
Allan Blomkvist, vice chairman of the board of the Långå fisheries management association, is also responsible for work carried out for the Grundsjö project. He is positive about the method that is now being applied. All actions contain different difficulties, but we feel that we are getting a handle on this method and have great confidence in it, he says.
The breeding herd that has been leased from Tännäs Fiskecentrum will be released in the Grundsjömagasinet in September after five years in cultivation. The chars have never experienced the natural environment they belong to until now.
The method of hatching boxes is proven and is increasingly used in organic aquaculture. From that 1 In October, the rules for the use of hatching boxes, among other things, will be updated.
Långåfisket's new strategy means that within the area, only farmed rainbow trout will be released in Stortjärn, the village's swimming pond.
