The long-light candle opens for National Day

To Sweden's National Day 2020 the stretches that were restored and restored are opened 2018! As of Thursday the 4 June the 'new' streams are available for fishing.

– It's a big day for us and the road to get here has taken five years, says chairman Helge Jonsson as during the Christmas holiday 2014 prepared a proposal to restore the current stretches in Långåljusnan after clearing waterways and impact from power extraction. Right after New Year 2015 the board of Långå FVOF decided that the proposal would be implemented. Several years of committed discussions became concrete measures. The following year, Långåfisket's quality manager carried out, Per-Ola Persson, a comprehensive inventory and a qualified analysis work for each part of the nearly seven kilometer stretch. After that, the tributaries were included, including the lowest part of Mittån and Gruckan. The project will be completed during the year. The summer's investments also include clearing paths and tracks, rest areas and measures for people with limited mobility.

– It is extensive work with very promising results, says Per-Ola Persson. We have received gratifying attention for the project which is seen as a good example of how to restore biotopes and fishing waters despite the disadvantages of power generation. In addition, we have built in resilience to climate change, he says.

The investments comprise a total of approx 3,2 million and has been possible to finance through funds provided by the county administrative board, Hav- and Water Authority, Swedish Board of Agriculture and EU, rural property, Härjedalen and Anglers. Långå FVOF has invested half a million kroner of its own funds and the value of non-profit unpaid work is estimated at around 500 000 kronor in total during the five years.

Stepwise opening The restored sections in Långåljusnan are kept closed the year after measures have been implemented. The reason is that fish and other aquatic organisms will have a summer to adapt to the new environments.

Total has 6,2 kilometers of Långåljusnan's stream sections have been restored, approximately half of which are now open. In addition, have 650 meters of the Mittån downstream of Hovdebron (33) restored and opened this summer 2021. That stretch also includes one 300 meter-long protected stretch for Långåfisket's Trout Project.

This means that power lines that were fixed 2018 in Långåljusnan is opened from 4 June 2020.

The following applies (the numbers can be found on Långåfisket's map):

current head (37) - Staffan building (40) 2,5 km. Edan downstream The Power Head initiates one 100 meters protected stream section (marked) for Långåfisket's Trout Project.

Skälningshån (43) - Gutter (45) 900 m ie the entire distance, 300m above the bridge and 600 m downstream bridge along the road 84.

Note that Catch & Release applies to the trout.

The stretch from Staffansbygget to Skälningarån is closed for the summer 2021.

Other stretches in Långåljusnan from Rändhån and through Långå village are open as usual! The laid out buoys are located next to old net sites with good fishing and can be used for mooring.
