Långåfisket secures Ljusnan trout

Långå Fish Care Area's Association has bought 200 breeding trout [Salmo Truntta] From Tallåsen's fish farming in Ljusdal. It is light nan -", that is, the one that belongs to the original species, and that is typical of the entire light area of water. The trout will be placed in cultivation after the summer and is part of the work to secure the supply of trout for the future in the fisheries management area and for Långåfishery.

The fisheries management plan (2019 – 2029) for Långå fiskevårdsförening assumes that only the original fish species should occur within the fisheries management area, with the exception of release in the two P&T-waters, mainly rainbow.

Natural reproduction, that is, the fish reproduce themselves naturally, is the basic rule and various measures are taken to facilitate that process. The biggest effort is made in the stream stretches in Långåljusnan with associated tributaries. There will be "new nurseries".

Support cultivation for certain waters may occur and stocking may take place at the level of what the biological and ecological conditions of the waters allow. Best known in this context is support cultivation of Grundsjörring where reproduction is severely disrupted due to power regulation.

Långåljusnan is an enclosed part of Ljusnan between two power plant dams, which means that the trout found there can develop some of their own characteristics over time. It is known from elsewhere that local populations may form. That the development process can take place on nature's terms has significance for what is seen as unique in Långåfisket, which adheres to the original nature of Lusnanöring.

The Fisheries Management Association's strategy for management and development of the Långå fishery means that the association should not run its own fish farming operations. Instead, hatchery fish must be purchased from commercial fish farms and ideally there should be at least two independent fish farms in the immediate area, among other things for safety reasons. Långå FVOF has long had a developed requirement specification that applies to the purchase of hatchery fish.
