Långå Fishery Conservation Association requests that the Energy Agency remove three designated locations for wind power establishment in sensitive natural areas near Lake Grundsjön, including Mittån and Anån. The association agrees with Härjedalen municipality, which also rejected the proposal. The board is in full agreement on the matter.
Långå FVOF points out that it has extensive knowledge of the extraction and conversion of primary energy and its importance for the electricity supply, but also its consequences with influence, damage and loss of the fisheries conservation area's natural capital. That the horizon is interrupted 300 meter-high installations change the landscape. Sweeping rotors touch thousands of square meters straight up over the landscape. It is especially disturbing to anglers who often aim the rod tip to that level. Even if a berry picker has a different perspective, you need to rest your eyes on views that don't flutter in the line of sight. In the long run, it is about negative experiences with personal, social, economic, cultural and infrastructural consequences.
There is a lot of good knowledge within the board, experience and competence for interaction with other interests, including power production, among other things in just over 20 year's concrete cooperation in the Ground Sea project regarding the protection of Ground Sea erosion despite simultaneous power production.
Such cooperation does not work when it comes to wind power production, which involves inevitable and negative changes to the landscape, not least for visitors but also for wildlife, especially birds.
Wind turbines as conversion technology and contribution to electricity supply work, considers Långå FVOF. It is recognized technology, mature technology and functioning production when it is windy but should be built close to areas that need the electricity. Secondarily at sea. Sensitive and important natural areas must be protected.
Wind turbines cannot be hidden in nature. The landscape changes with various disturbances and negative consequences for recreation, fiske, hunt, property owners and entrepreneurs, considers Långå FVOF. Wind turbines disturb the landscape three-dimensionally, to compare with skyscrapers and with noise as from a heavily trafficked highway. The rotor, 'the spin', spanning thousands of square meters and sweeping at the level from 100 to 300 meter height. It affects everything and everyone who stays within its horizon.
Preserved wilderness- and mountain areas in Härjedalen must be kept as breathing holes where people draw 'human energy' for a meaningful, sustainable, reasonable life.
In the opinion, Långåfisket also describes the wildlife's fauna and flora with unique premises, among other things for Kungsörn, Owls, Berguv, Ospreys and other protected bird species that nest and forage here. These are valuable and already threatened natural resources that today contribute to great experiences of every fishing trip. Långåfisket not only offers fishing but also valuable experiences in the wilderness, mountains and near-mountain forests.
The referral period for comments on the proposal expired on 18 december 2025.
