2016 good year for Långåfisket

Interest in Långåfisket increased markedly in 2016. The board concluded for long FVOF at its year-end meeting. For the first time in the association's history, exceeded sales of fishing permits half a million crowns, despite the fact that prices have remained unchanged.
– It is once again fly fishing that accounts for a sharp increase, and card sales there have had a steady development and now amount to 180 000 SEK. In addition, the decrease on daily cards has recovered from close to fifty thousand years 2015 to 90 100 calculated to 2016. Also three-day, weekly passes and annual passes for cottage owners have increased greatly, says Helge Jonsson.
– The fact that turnover has increased so significantly is of course gratifying, he says, and if this interest remains at least at the same level, we can take it as a sign that Långåfishing is attractive to many anglers and not least to fly fishermen.
No dividends are paid to the owners, but all income is reinvested in fishing, habitat management and service. This means that the financial value of Långåfisket's fishing card is more than twice as large as the fee the angler pays. The value of voluntary, unpaid work amounts to 450 000 SEK. 49 people were engaged on a non-profit basis in Långåfisket during 2016.

QUALITY IS ESSENTIAL
The quality of what Långåfisket offers is of course what is decisive and that the chances of getting a fish are reasonably good even for those who have not reached the desired skills.
– Often the experience is greater than the catch and in that respect the environment has, nature and the wealth of variety are of great importance and it is something that we can offer in Långå and the fisheries management area here. We have a lot of telling evidence that Långå is perceived and appreciated for its harmonious balance between quality of life and quality of nature. This is what we like to talk about when we present Långåfisket and we
can stand to be compared with the best, says Helge.

In contact activities and marketing, it is pointed out that Långå has a centuries-old tradition of understanding and using fishing as an asset of a large, natural resource worthy of protection. That point of view resonates with many who demand and share those basic values.

The board of Långå FVOF has, in its basic approach and planning, prioritized that fishing should be attractive for all categories and that it is the natural conditions that set the limits for how
great fishing pressure must be.

– We have full control of how fishing is developing and preparedness so that the pressure does not become unacceptable. There is still no need for any other restrictions than those stated in the rules, says Helge Jonsson. In addition, we invest in measures to spread fishing to more waters and areas and will succeed in doing so.

Of course, the board of Långå FVOF takes the results from 2016 as a confirmation that Långåfisket maintains the level that different categories of anglers desire. Many newcomers have found their way to Långå, which is explained by the fact that careful marketing has been done above all through the leading journal Flugfiske i Norden and through participation in various fairs. And a very large part of the anglers who visit Långå have returned year after year. Some in more than 60 years and now mostly together with younger generations. That kind of loyalty and recurring habits belong to the concepts of quality in Långåfisket, says Helge Jonsson.

The annual general meeting is held on 30 March at 19.00 in the clubhouse, benefits&Pleasure, in Långå. The board has called owners and invited other interested parties to the meeting.
