Reduction fishing after SIK is one of the methods to reduce the SIKPOPULATION in Grundsjön to give Grundsjörödingen better living conditions. Fishing has been going on for more than ten years and the result is deemed to have an impact as planned. The second method of benefiting the future of Grundsjörödingen in Grundsjön is to support its presence through the cultivation and release of fry that can withstand the nutritional competition with whitefish. The Russians, which this year has been two, was taken up on Sunday 2 November and thus this year's reduction fishing is over. Net fishing went on for two weeks in August according to plan. The total catch amounts to 4 546 Sikar, which is roughly the same as previous years. The average weight is approx 450 grams for the net-caught whitefish and approx 300 for sikas caught in the two Russians.
The directed fishing means that by-catch of other fish is surprisingly small and lies below 3 percent, of which only 0,7 percent is char. The catch has gone on to processing, the majority of which went to Härjedalen municipality for use in school canteens and nursing homes as a prized delicacy.
