The season 2024 perceived as roughly normal but with varying introduction. The number of anglers was just over 2 000 including fishing rights owners with families, villagers, cottage owners and card buyers, It will be ca 10 000 fishing occasions/fishing trips as fishermen can on average visit several places per day, week, season and year.
RESOURCES Personal commitment and efforts are highly appreciated! They are part of the Långå culture, certified the chairman Helge Jonsson in his introductory speech to the annual meeting that had attracted 26 people. Under 2024 hair 54 people have been involved in the business. The value of volunteer efforts is estimated at around half a million SEK. Added to this is the value of collaborations and external co-financing. Cooperation takes place with relevant actors such as the county administrative board, Region Jämtland-Härjedalen, the municipality, Fortum Sverige AB and Sportfiskarna in contexts where additional competence and financial resources are needed.
ECONOMY & FINANCES The financial prerequisites are based on there being a certain amount of capital for the association's areas of responsibility, commitments in contracts and
the board's leeway for agreed plans. No investments are started unless they are fully funded in advance. All income and externally provided funds are used for long-term investments in conservation and biotope care. No financial dividend to the owners. The value of a fishing license is approximately four times greater than the fee.
THE RESULT Turnover amounted to 822 918 (839 615) kroner, of which sales of fishing licenses were largely the same as the year before 382 118 when it was386 070 SEK. The annual meeting's allocated retained earnings from the previous year are 350 023 (435 681) crowns and 66 437 (-84 157) kroner which was the result for 2024. The annual meeting unanimously decided according to the board's proposal to transfer in a new account 416 461 (351 523) SEK.
QUALITY WORK, SUPERVISION AND RULES
Quality and supervision are managed in-house with competence and responsibility through trained officials and certified supervisory staff. Four have electrofishing certification for control, analyzes and fisheries management. Långåfisket's rules mean that anyone with a fishing license can point out to other fishermen which rules apply. Långå FVOF applies an inspection fee.
INFORMATION and MARKETING
Långåfisket is appreciated and has a good reputation in sports fishing circles with a strong brand. Långåfisket's logo with 4 Rounds symbolize "the four nobles of Långåfishing". Trademark exists for, among other things, Grundsjöröding™, The proper name 'Långåljusnan' applies to Ljusnan's stretch through the fisheries management area to distinguish it from other parts of Ljusnan, e.g. Intermediate beam.
The website is a channel for facts about the fishing waters, fish species, biotopes, regulations, good advice and tips on everything from safety and cooking to accommodation services. The angler gets knowledge and service to plan, carry out and get the best experience of their fishing trips. Facebook has approx 1 400 connected and is a well-visited channel for Långåfisket and current events.
Traditional 'selling advertising' is not used. We do not see anglers as 'customers' but as participants and stakeholders in a larger context with valued natural values. Telephone service is not possible due to time constraints, but current information on the home page is available around the clock. Time and work are prioritized for fisheries conservation.
The FISHING LOCATION at Långå Skans has become a meeting place for visitors to gather around the campfire. It is therefore not an ordinary resting place, but dedicated specifically to meetings, training, practice and education about fish, fishing and our nature. For a few years now, it has been free fishing for all visitors there along the beach and of course the meeting place is open to everyone
.
The GRUNDSJÖPROJEKTET works for the survival of Grundsjö trout in Grundsjömagasinet. The owner is the County Administrative Board, the municipality, Fortum Sweden AB, Långå FVOF and Särvsjön village community. Whitefish are caught using targeted methods and delivered with systems developed with support from Region Jämtland-Härjedalen and in collaboration with the Jämtland Farming Society. An agreement has been concluded with Beppe Backman and FABEE in Ljusnedal on further processing of the entire catch starting 2025. Minced whitefish from Grundsjön is a favorite in the municipality's commercial kitchen.
'ECO LAKE' A 'Pond in the Pond' will create a 'lake in the lake' that is not drained. It is an investment in a pilot plant with a planned start 2025/26. The idea was developed within Långåfisket ten years ago and has not yet been tested anywhere. The project is estimated to cost approx 13 million kroner with Fortum Sverige AB as the leading player.
Since the turn of the year, Långå FVOF has the entire contract for the Grundsjö project, including financing via government grants and the power industry's regulatory funds, i.e. construction funds. This is through an agreement with the County Administrative Board and the municipality of Härjedalen since the county administrative board changed the rules for rural development funds where the municipality does not have the opportunity to apply for such. Fortum Sverige AB continues to be the main financier.
Helge Jonsson was elected chairman of the board and Benny Willson is a newly elected member of the board, biologist and expert in ecology. Benny has recently moved to Långå from Nacka.
