Härjedalen municipality has a contact point and a consultation body with fishing stakeholders in the so-called 'fisketinget'. Now it's time for the autumn fishing meeting with, among other things, a presentation of the extensive feasibility study aimed at measures to develop sustainable sport fishing in Härjedalen.
This year, the fishing council is relocated to Långå in a joint arrangement with the interest organization Sportfiskarna. About sixty participants are expected, including representatives of the Östersund County Administrative Board and Voxnan's Water Conservation Association.
The program begins with a presentation of the restoration of the stream sections in Långåljusnan, which have now been completed. Plans exist to restore another kilometer downstream of the tunnel discharge from Långå power plant.
At the fishing parliament, the county administrative board will present current information regarding recreational fishing and fisheries conservation initiatives in the county. Jämtland County offers several of the country's most sought-after fishing waters. Extensive investments are made for fisheries conservation, fisheries promotion measures and investments to recreate natural and sustainable biotopes.
Janne Gabrielsson is responsible for fishing and fisheries conservation within Härjedalen municipality and thus for the fishing council.
