Due to the hot weather, the water temperatures in our running water have risen to levels that involve an increased risk of stress and damage to the fish when catching and handling. To protect fish stocks and ensure sustainable sport fishing, we urge to avoid our less running water and call for fishing in larger deeper lakes! We will not close any water at present but hope that the information reaches out and that people understand the seriousness and avoid sensitive waters such as Anån, Mittån, the stretches upstream of the end mounds as well as other minor running water.
When fishing in our other waters, it is important that the teasing occurs quickly, preferably with vigorous equipment and then that you gently handle fish that is released back(preferably without leaving the water). The fish always comes in the first place.
At high temperatures reduces the oxygen content in the water, which makes the fish easily gain increased physiological stress and lactic acid formation associated with exertion. Even short -term teases and handling at Catch and Release, can then cause great stress or at worst dead. By pairing fishing, we give the fish a chance to recover and ensure that we can continue to enjoy a viable fishing in the future.
We follow the development carefully and inform as soon as conditions allow fishing to return to normal. We thank you for your understanding and your commitment to sustainable fishing.
