Johan Danielsson (S), Sofie Eriksson (S) And Karin Karlsbro (L) , All EU parliamentarians for Sweden, has sent an open letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and three other relevant commissioners. In the letter they require recreational fishing to be recognized as a full part of the EU:S Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
The letter points out that recreational fishing is affected by several EU decisions, But still lacks formal status as a stakeholder in fisheries policy. There is also no reliable statistics and socio -economic analyzes that may form the basis for political decisions.
The anglers in Sweden work with good success in lifting the value of recreational fishing, both nationally and internationally. This means, among other things, that the anglers are actively involved in political issues. In Europe, this takes place within the framework of European cooperation EAA - European Anglers' Association.
