Fishing in July began at essentially normal level in the first half, but towards the end of the month by the most experienced very slow with few hatchings and too little movement in the waters. Fly fishing has therefore not been at the level expected in recent weeks. The same conditions are reported from other locations with comparable fishing waters. Spin anglers have had better success, but they also feel the same phenomenon. This is evident from reports submitted to Långåfisket.
At the same time, there are experiences and reports of a completely opposite kind. Eight trout weighing a total of four kilos,
three trout on together 3,2 kilo, record catches of large perch up to two kilos and successful grayling fishing in Långtjärn at Grundsjön.
– As always, it is almost impossible to say what it is due to, says Långåfisket's quality manager, Per-Ola Persson. There are many factors that come into play, men vi liksom andra fiskevårdsområden har
Det som uppskattas mest är miljön och landskapet, the relaxation from everyday working life and only in third place comes the fishing itself. This is evident, among other things, from the large survey that was carried out in 'Långåfisket's perspective'. But these impressions are from July 2019 that interest decreases?
– No, not at all, says Per-Ola Persson. For some it may be the other way around, that interest increases, because an angler does not give up because the fishing basket is empty. But it's clear if you expect good grayling fishing in the middle of the red month, it's difficult, while we are surprised at how many have succeeded well there anyway, not least the grayling fishing in Långtjärn at Grundsjön is at a remarkably high level, which has pleased many.
– When conditions are tough, you have to rely on your skills and lessons are learned best when it's tough. Interest in sport fishing is increasing, which not least applies to Långåfisket, which attracts more young people. It is the same with hunting, where interest among young people is also increasing. Both interests contain so much else that is important and even if you naturally look forward to getting fish, you are prepared for it not to be. And it is not seen as a loss. One aims at the next opportunity. The most important thing is to be able to fish!
