Collaboration has begun between the project group for Långå Skans and the board of Långåfisket on a facility that welcomes visitors and invites to free fishing along Långåljusnan, the current section on the south side of the rampart. The place is also to be used for teaching about fishing and as a practice place in fishing technique, catch and release and the art of taking care of the catch and arranging it. The historic site provides knowledge of Swedish defense history since Härjedalen was incorporated into Sweden through the peace of Brömsebro 1645. Skansen is a defense historical cultural monument. The venture unites two interests that are expected to yield significant results for both parties.
The idea is based on Långåfisket providing the stretch of stream in Långåljusnan on the southern side of the skan for free fishing for those who visit Långå Skans. Långå FVOF builds and maintains a pleasant and well-ordered site at the outlet of the tributary Kvissla. Installations are made with grill, benches, reinsbord, wind protection and information boards. Maintenance is coordinated with the project group for Långå Skans.
Access for all visitors, those interested in fishing and school classes with free fishing along the stretch of stream. At the site, Långåfisket can arrange training and theme days to increase knowledge and skills in sport fishing. Individual anglers and families can always use the installations on their own.
The investment means an interesting addition that makes Långå Skans a bigger attraction for the thousands of visitors who come to the skansen every year. The measure is also expected to increase the number of visitors and the use of Långå Skans that are visited- and excursion destinations.
Långå FVOF in Härjedalen has been investing for several years in increasing the experience of the fishing trip in addition to the fishing itself. A special member of the board is responsible for the fisheries association's cultural program. The emphasis is on nature, environment and climate as well as history with knowledge and discoveries in the mountains, forest- and cultural landscape. The focus is to increase awareness of the importance of natural resources and the connection with the culture and history of the area. In this context, Långå Skans occupies a particularly valuable defense historical object dating back to the second half of the 17th century. Långåljusnan stretches with its stream along the south side of the rampart.
