The fishing area Långå Compound, Långå FVOF, formed 1981, after the care and use of the fishery has been organized in another way before.

The arranged work for care and use of the fishing in Långå has evidently been going on for several hundred years. The oldest known document confirming it is dated 15 May 1716.

This means that in Långå there is a centuries-old tradition of understanding and using fishing as an asset of a protected natural resource..

Fishery conservation area, Long fish conservation area, consists of all fishing waters in the area, which have been merged into a common fisheries conservation area in accordance with the Fisheries Conservation Areas Act (LOFO). The County Administrative Board of Jämtland County was responsible for the formation itself. In Sweden there are around 2 000 fisheries conservation areas. The fishing waters in Långå are privately owned.

The management of the fisheries conservation area and management of the business, including leasing through the sale of fishing licenses, is handled by the association, Långå Fiskevårdsförening.

Långå FVOF is a nonprofit organization owned by a sjuttital private fishing rights owners who formed the association and open the fishery under the current rules by fishing license.

Long FVOF develops, operates and markets the fishery under the collective name ‘Långåfisket’ which is copyrighted by Trade Mark as an attractive and close-to-nature sport fishing.

Långå FVOF is governed and led by a board with associated functions appointed by the Annual General Meeting.
